LATE Tunde Maek
When we became friends during his life time and I got to know that his idoma name was “Owoicho”, I was never surprised because Tunde depicted that name. Tunde Owiocho Mark was one young man any of us in our generation could have any negativity against. I started this way to avoid the temptatoin of enumerating the good gestures that Tunde Owoicho Mark had extended to us during his life time because of time factor. I say “Us” because my other friends and I had recounted the many ways our late benefactor had affected our lives and those of our families. Is it the many hospital bills that Owi had picked up or the many times Tunde had helped out in the area of sponsorship of indigent students of various institutions of learning? Tunde took it upon himself both morally and financially for me to bag my Master’s of Science Degree in Accountancy, not to talk of his effort during my undergraduate studies in Enugu. “Tabitha and Dorcas of our time, you told me one day that “life has no meaning without a good friend”. Why then have you abandoned us? On the other flip, who are we to question God? Hhmm! Our solace is in your new life in Christ Jesus and the fact that God has never failed to reward good works. Tunde Mark, as you journey through eternity, may your work of charity speak for you. May your meek heart give you the access to the presence of God and may your gentle soul rest in the bosom of Abraham, our Father in faith.
“Good Afternoon, Tunde”.
